Newton County School System Earns Prestigious "College and Career Academy of the Year" Award for 2023 from the Technical College System of Georgia
Newton County School System is honored to announce that the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) has officially recognized the Newton County College and Career Academy (NCCA) as the "College and Career Academy of the Year" for 2023.
Governor Brian Kemp praised NCCA's outstanding contributions, stating, “I’m proud to congratulate our College and Career Academy of the Year on their exceptional work providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.”
NCCA earned this prestigious accolade by demonstrating excellence across various key domains, including academic achievements, workforce development initiatives, collaborations with industry stakeholders, and active engagement with the local community.
TCSG Commissioner, Greg Dozier, commended NCCA's steadfast commitment to empowering students, saying, "Newton County College and Career Academy has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to empowering students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in both their academic pursuits and future careers. Their innovative programs, strong ties to local industries, and active involvement in the community have set a high standard for college and career academies across the state."
Established in 2012, Newton County College and Career Academy currently serves 899 students and stands as a pivotal facet of the strategic vision of the Newton County Board of Education and the Newton County School System to cater to the evolving workforce needs of Newton County and its neighboring regions. NCCA engages in collaborative partnerships with local businesses, technical colleges, and universities to produce postsecondary graduates capable of making immediate, positive contributions to the local workforce. The academy boasts an impressive offering of 16 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, spanning subjects from AP Environmental Science to AP Statistics, and also maintains the distinction of housing the largest Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathway selection within the Newton County School System, comprising 22 pathways.
