APEX

The Georgia Apex Program (Apex), funded by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), strives to build capacity and increase access to mental health services for school-aged youth from Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade. Apex recognizes schools as a natural environment for identification and intervention and aims to reduce the unmet mental health needs of our youth. The program promotes collaboration between community mental health providers and schools so that school-based services can be provided. Training for school staff is also offered as a supportive means to facilitate the proper care at the right time for children, young adults, and families.

Newton County Schools has contracted with View Point Health as our Apex provider. They will provide clinicians facilitating individual and group therapeutic sessions on campus at identified schools during regular school hours. The cost of this service is based on insurance benefits that will be acquired through View Point Health. Individual students, families, or guardians will not be invoiced for services provided. Newton County Schools is not responsible for services rendered by View Point clinicians. For a student to experience success utilizing this service, families, school personnel, and clinicians are expected to abide by HIPAA Laws, county confidentiality procedures, and professionalism. View Point Health is a community behavioral health provider that strives to serve children, adolescents, and their families who need support.
