Students Report February 16Dear Parents and Families,

First, thank you for your support during our school closure. It hasn’t been easy on anyone—students, teachers, and families have all struggled during this time. Hopefully, we have turned a corner and will soon see an end to the Covid-19 virus. As promised, we have reviewed the numbers, and we’re happy to report a downward trend in the transmission rate of Covid-19 in our community. As such, we will continue with our plans to have all students who are currently enrolled in in-person learning return to school on Tuesday, February 16. Don’t forget, that Monday, February 15 is our winter break holiday so all schools are closed.

We look forward to having our students return to our buildings, and it is our hope that we can remain open for in-person learning for the remainder of the school year. This, however, will ultimately depend on the Covid-19 data for the Newton County community. Should numbers dramatically increase again, we may have no choice but to close down and revert to remote learning. So please, continue to practice the Three W’s: Wash your hands regularly, wear a mask, and watch your distance. It’s also crucial for anyone in your family who is sick or awaiting a Covid-19 test result to remain home. Please do not send students to school if they are unwell or awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test. We must do everything in our power to ensure the transmission of this virus continues to decrease in Newton County. So please, do your part so schools can re-start and remain open for in-person instruction.

Thank you.
