Pre-Teacher Preparation Experiences:
Newton County Schools pre-teacher preparation includes field experiences of observations, practicums, internships, fieldwork, and/or student teaching. These services provide the opportunity for college students to be mentored by veteran mentors to assist in developing the knowledge, skills and dispositions deemed essential to become effective professional educators. We will make all efforts to grant specific requests. However, placements are based upon availability and are not guaranteed.
Prospective Students:
Please do not contact individual schools or principals to request field experience placements. Contact the placement advisor/coordinator at your respective university to begin the placement request process. All requests are to be submitted by the college/university advisor/coordinator. Requests sent via students will not be processed.
Universities:
All colleges/universities must have a current signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Newton County Schools before a placement can be secured. The MOU must be signed by both the University Dean and Newton County Schools Superintendent or designee before it is deemed valid.
The placement advisor/coordinator should complete and submit the NCS Request for Placement form. The form is to be submitted via email to [email protected]. Once principals/directors identify a suitable cooperating teacher/mentor, the form will be completed and submitted back to HR. HR will submit the completed form with the necessary information to the college university/supervisor. Please do not submit any other forms to HR. All other forms should be submitted to the principal once a location and cooperating teacher/mentor has been identified.
