Newton County Schools is proud to announce the outstanding achievements of students from Newton County STEAM Academy (NCSA) at the recent Georgia Technology Student Association (TSA) State Leadership Conference. The conference, held in Athens, Georgia, from March 13-16, brought together students from 182 schools statewide for three days of competitive events and skill demonstrations.
The conference featured over 80 competitive events spanning a wide range of technological fields, including Cybersecurity, Coding, Electric Vehicles, Robotics, Manufacturing, Engineering Design, and more. Students from NCSA showcased their talents and expertise in these areas, earning commendable results across various competitions.
Student awards included the following:
- 1st place in Biotechnology - Ronnie Triplett
- 1st place in Essays on Technology - Kyra Stewart
- 1st place in VEX IQ Robotics - Jacob Asbell, Logan Knight, Temilade Sowole
- 2nd place in Career Prep - Briley Oller
- 2nd place in Coding - Benjamin Parson and Oliver Reid
- 3rd place in STEM Animation - Jocelyn Johnson, Sophia Mabie, Kyra Stewart
- 3rd place in VEX IQ Robotics - Matthew Camba, William Dozier, Carson Johnson, Benjamin Parson, Oliver Reid
- 5th place in Leadership Strategies - Logan Knight, Temilade Sowole, Ronnie Triplett
- 5th place in Tech Bowl - Logan Knight, Briley Oller, Temilade Sowole
- 8th place in Off the Grid - Journey Hay
- 8th place in Technical Design - Journey Hay and Madden McDaniel
- 9th place in Problem Solving - William Dozier and Journey Hay
- 10th place in Cybersecurity - Carson Johnson
- 10th place in Forensic Technology - Jocelyn Johnson and Sophia Mabie
Additionally, Newton County STEAM Academy was recognized as the 8th place Middle School Outstanding Chapter, further highlighting the dedication and success of its students.
